The FAQ or whatever in the game stated that headshots were 2x damage. While this made for an excellent mini-story, it also completely depleted my enthusiasm to keep going since I had no resources and was back to square one. Let it be said I was in an active firefight against 2 alien dudes and one of those little flying guys. I in fact even rolled away from the blast, but it still pwned me. I know there is noise and you can dodge them. While it was funny AF to see my dude fly across the screen and then into a pit, it also somewhat randomly ended my only decent gear run. But then I got randomly wrecked by a mortar. I managed to finally save up enough for heavy armor, an assault rifle and grenades. It felt like the game was gleefully kicking me while I was down. And my favorite - your guns overheat faster. Oh you're struggling? How about having reduced health? Less teleports? Less carrying capacity. I was already failing hard (max kills 7 I think) and then my next guy is even crappier than the last. At least 5-6 dudes in a row had incredibly BAD traits. I was able to click around for awhile and experiment and figure it out. Which leads me to saying, there is zero explanation about the Lab/Foundry/Upgrade bench, w/e they are called. And you have to de-craft those to get parts to get better stuff. It takes a long time to get any good gear beyond alien laser guns. Like what? There should be some ramping difficulty. All aliens, from the first one you meet, seem to have 2-3x your health. Is there an aspect in particular that you feel is too difficult? Of course, once you unlock some good tech, the runs become much easier. Once it's up, let us know if it helps your runs. Costs will be adjusted to help the early game grind even more, and we've removed some early game enemy spawns, plus lowered enemy health a tiny bit. But the feedback has helped to let us know where to make some adjustments. Finding the right challenge is a tough balance, as in testing we initially felt we hit it.
